I had a dead-end job as a cashier, a degree in English, and a cat named after Flannery O’Connor who gives head butts and chirps like a bird.

I packed up numbers 2 and 3 and ditched number 1.

Someone once told me that you never get the travel bug out – once you’ve been bitten, that’s it, and the more you travel the worse it gets. That is absolutely true. After studying abroad at Loyola University Chicago’s John Felice Rome Center, I’ve had issues with the whole staying-in-one-place thing. I hardly finish up one escapade before I start plotting out another.

Although, I have to say, some things follow you around for life – in my case, it’s a high school nickname – Asparagus – and the subsequent prefix of Aspara- on all my stuff. Even my adventures!

My furry friend, Flannery the Expat Cat, and I are always up for a new adventure. Follow us to see what we get up to next!
